An Unlikely View…a Different Review

WOW! This was a powerful post, and almost to the letter of how I feel about and view the Harry Potter series. A very good and thoughtful review

untitledAs I sit here this evening – I am overwhelmed with words and emotion and yet unsure how to express either. Days ago, I walked into a movie theater to view a movie I had been excited about since I had first heard it was in the works. Beauty and the Beast. I was 15 years old when the animated version came out. I remember watching it with my sister when she was home on break from college. I remember at the time feeling so moved by such a beautiful movie. The story hit me personally somehow; the music moved me; the characters impacted me. I remember even then thinking – how can this beautifully crafted cartoon have such an affect on me? So to say that I was both excited and nervous about the live action version is a bit understated. Excited to revisit a favorite in a new…

Pastor George Morrison – A Model of Godly Leadership

So very honored to have attended this church the past 7 years and sat under his teaching. Godspeed, Pastor George, as you and Cheryl step into a new adventure!

Elevate Leadership Coaching

A Celebration of Leadership

A few days ago I attended a celebration party forthe ministry of Pastor George Morrison. Pastor George has served as the senior pastor of Faith Bible Chapel in Arvada, Colorado for 33 years. Pastor George recently turned over the senior leadership of the church to his successor and a celebration was held in his honor to thank him and his wife and highlight theiraccomplishments over 33 years of ministry.

The evening was filled with great laughter, joy, and emotion. Pastors, city leaders, friends, congregants, and family members expressed their gratitude and their affection for Pastor George. Every word that was spoken painted a picture of a person whose life demonstrated in dramatic fashion the qualities of a Godly leader.

I have attended Faith Bible Chapel since I was 13 years old and I have worked theresince I was 21. I have watched Pastor George for many…

Book Review: Web of Shadows, Susan Sleeman

webofshadows_225I love the rich, vibrant characters that Susan develops. They are good and strong, be they on the right or wrong side of the law. In fact, I cringed when the villain in this book was named! He’s as creepy as ever, with a grudge against FBI Agent Nina Brandt, who sent him to prison. When he inadvertantly runs into her, his crazed plot for revenge begins. It unfortunately involves Nina’s ex-love, Navy SEAL Quinn Stone and his family. Nina must get involved and save not only Quinn’s younger brother, but her own career.

The suspense begins on the very first page, and doesn’t stop until the end. It’s certainly a book that you do not want to put down. The action is realistic; the bad guy is BAD and the good guys triumph. As with life, there is tragedy along the way, but Susan handles those incidents well. There is no gore, no violence-for-shock-value scenes in her book. It’s a good, stirring, clean read that takes you on a great ride through the risks of national security and just how vulnerable it may be.

Web of Shadows is Susan’s second book in her Agents Under Fire series. Susan’s books are available on Amazon and elsewhere. You can connect with her through social media:

Moving Soon…

Hi everyone 🙂

Just letting you know that the blog will be moving soon to my website, which is undergoing an overhaul.

Isn’t that a stunning sentence?

In case this takes longer than I estimate (which is entirely possible!) I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Hap-hap-happy New Year!

Thanksgiving Blessings To All!

Hello faithful readers!

It’s been a busy time around the Big Blue House. Well, honestly, when is it not? I’ve been working on Angels Unaware, and I’m so excited about it! I just love this story. I also have the perfect cover art for it. Now, if you’ve been with me a while you know that I was searching high and low for the owner of that fabulous angel graphic. Unfortunately, I am unable to locate them. But, a dear friend of mine took a magnificent shot of a church roof, with clouds and…well, you’ll see when I get my cover mocked up.

One reason I am so in love with this particular story is that I feel it really shows why faith in Jesus is so very important. I’m not a big evangelist in person. In fact, I get a bit shy about talking about faith. However, the Lord has given me this gift of writing, and I can express it there.

Another reason is this story was the last that my sweet friend Sandy proofread for me. We unexpectedly lost Sandy in August 2015. But, as you know, if you’ve been around me a while, nothing is unexpected to our Great Heavenly Father. She encouraged me, supported me, listened to me rant about everything and nothing. I miss her very much, as do many others. She was “one of those people,” one who made everyone feel as though they were her best good friend. This is her book. If you frequent my Facebook page, you probably saw this post:

SandySo. Funny story that my sweet friend and patient proof-reader Sandy would have gotten a giggle out of. After I designated and signed all my copies, I sat down to savor that moment when all your work pays off…when you actually SEE your baby live on paper. Right there on the very first page of the very first chapter. A huge, glaringly obvious typo. Sandy always reminded me to wait on her; and she always caught even the smallest of errors in the manuscript. Man, I miss her for more than her proofing skills. She always encouraged me to wait on the very best and not to settle for good enough. One day, we’ll laugh over this. Needless to say, the book will be off market for 24 hours. I hope everyone who receives the “Over Confident Author Version” can chuckle too. #bagoverhead #crazyauthor

Book Review: High Caliber Holiday by Susan Sleeman

HCH 2015The third installment of Susan’s First Responders series opens and closes with edge-of-your-seat action. Ex-lawyer Morgan Thornsby is taken hostage on a train and the First Response Squad is called out. Negotiations don’t go as planned, and team sniper Brady Owens must take a shot; but he freezes for a split second. When his shot hits Morgan, Brady feels responsible and silently vows to care for her. What they find in her apartment after he takes her home opens up the start of a tense stalker case that finishes in Susan’s trademark twist of plot. Just when you think you’re sure who it is, she dazzles with an unforeseen but believable alternate suspect that makes you slap your head and utter, “I forgot about them!”
The characters in High Caliber Holiday are familiar old friends you’re happy to be revisiting. You want to join them in the dining room of the old firehouse for a home cooked meal by Darcie or attending Skylar’s huge Christmas shindig. They are engaging and you don’t want the story to end.
Susan’s brand of clean romantic suspense is highly recommended for all!
